Safe Work Plans

All successful jobs begin with a safe work plan.

Work plans are formulated before the crew arrives on the job site. We have an experienced staff of knowledgeable project managers and safety professionals executing and overseeing all jobs.

The Safe Work Plan Involves:

Job briefs/ Hazard Analysis

Job briefs take place prior to the start of each work day, at mid-day and when any conditions change.

Communication with Everyone Involved

Each member of the crew, any visitors to the work area, or other contractors are briefed on the work we are performing and how we are going to safely execute and complete the work and are required to sign in on the job brief.

Revising Job Briefs

We continually develop and improve job briefs with the intention of generating more discussions that allow crew members to communicate and share potential risk factors with ease and clarity.

Safety Observations & Audits

J.W. Didado conducts documented behavioral-based safety observations/audits to evaluate our compliance to regulatory and J.W. Didado safety processes and procedures.

N

Mandatory for all levels

  • All levels of the organization are expected to be involved in the execution of this program.
N

Team Approach

  • We utilize a team approach towards safety observation and ask our peers to provide a second set of eyes. The intent is to use these observations to build on existing culture and to improve our performance.

The Capacity Model

About the Capacity Model

The Capacity Model creates a work environment that focuses on preventing an incident while also building the capacity for failure by always planning and executing our work as if failure is going to happen today.

  • PREVENTION
Always work to prevent errors, but focus on STKY.
  • LEARNING
Learn from errors when (not if) they happen.
  • CAPACITY FOR FAILURE
Build the capacity to “fail safely”.

S**t That Kills You

About STKY

It’s important for crews to start focusing on STKY scenarios that could occur on their jobsite. Significant events are a result of a release or transfer of energy that can’t be absorbed safely.

A STKY injury that results in one of the following three outcomes:

1. Life-threatening

2. Life altering

3. Life-ending
